Dr. Lana Boodhoo - Advancing Cardiac Care in the Caribbean

A distinguished cardiologist and electrophysiologist recognized for her pioneering contributions to cardiac care in the Caribbean, Dr. Lana Boodhoo has dedicated her career to diagnosing, treating, and managing heart rhythm disorders. She holds a bachelor of medicine degree from the University of the West Indies, a doctorate of medicine from the University of London, and subspecialty training in cardiac electrophysiology at Mersey Deanery. Dr. Lana Boodhoo's work has focused on expanding electrophysiology services in Trinidad and Tobago, including introducing procedures such as atrial fibrillation ablation and lead extraction.

Dr. Boodhoo has been involved in developing pacemaker implantation services and helped establish pacing services and a dedicated Heart Rhythm Clinic at San Fernando Hospital. She has also worked with advanced diagnostic tools, including 3D mapping systems for arrhythmia ablation and tilt table testing for syncope.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Boodhoo has contributed to research in cardiac electrophysiology and presented at scientific conferences. She is a council member of the Caribbean Cardiac Society, a member of the Heart Rhythm Society, and regularly reviews manuscripts for scientific journals.
